Bharath or India as a whole is known as a land of great spirituality. It kept its holiness and divinity for a long time despite repetitive attacks from outsiders to subdue its very quality of the great practices. These varied widely in ways of worship , gods worshipped , symbols , temple construction methods and rituals. Kings of that golden era constructed huge magnificent temples that still speak of the religion that flourished to its fullest. Saints lived during their age sung sacred hymns in paraise of the gods which embellishes the residing deities of the temples taking the glory to great heights. These wonders stand even today , although in a very neglected and dilapidated state but still providing glimpses of grandiose of the golden age. The magnificence of these structures talk of the great architecture of that time and most importantly , the innate passion of the builders for the dharma that flourished then .
These great structures can be seen from the north indian himalayan footsteps all the way to the southern tip of the country. Our interest for now is confined to the southern most state of India called Tamir Nadu and especially in Thanjavur district. These are mainly that of SHIVA and VISHNU , the two main deities of Hindus.  Except a few temples , the other beautiful temples are being left neglected and unnoticed despite their holyness , sanctity and importance. Many of us aspire to visit them but unfortunately do not know their whereabouts. The purpose of this website is to provide visitors with such details. Visiting these magnificient structures of art will not only earn some revenue to these temples which are in the verge of poverty and destruction , but also help the dependents survive and keep their interests intact.
The term Thevara Thalangal means Sacred Temples sung in the collection of songs called Thevaram by the 3 Saints Appar , Sundarar and Sambandar.
